Seasonal Hygiene

Okay...I'd like to see where everyone stands on a certain issue.  My question is...most people meet during the "sexy summer."  Women and men are at their height of sensuality and hygiene...Toes are done. Nails done, workout, etc.
With all this in mind, I was told the other day that I was "not black enough" cuz I still shave and get pedicures, and everything year-round.  So, there won't be any...surprises, ya know?
What is the opinion of this?  Men..and women...do you think certain aspects of the "motions" are seasonal?

HELL NAW!  Who said that?!?  LMAO....seriously?
Hygiene and going through the "motions" are, or should be 24/7.

I mean seriously....are crusty toes and afro puff armpits more desirable when its cold out?  Is an unruly beard or beady-beads running like lines of cocaine down the neck, sexier in the winter months?

Danni, I would be giving the side-eye to whoever said that...along with a lil mini toiletry kit.  Wow!

Hmm, I think I am more mindful of frequently I do certain things (once a week goes to twice a month or thereabout), but I think you should keep the schedule that makes you happy regardless of the weather (or your relationship status).

I more worried about men, cuz most of them seem to think they don't need to manscape.

@ Dashon...I just shook my head. I could not believe it when I heard it.  I do know that sometimes, the younger generation don't seem to recognize that hygiene or "motions" are for self and not for others.  It's as if everyone is beginning to put on a show for the world and not just to please themselves.

@ JustAThought...I agree--your self security is the operative motivator.  And PLZ show me a man that manscapes--cuz I will buy the RING for them. LOL

This sounds like a response from a insecure person feeling guilty about their own personal upkeep. As brothers we don't allow seasonal passes..you have to bring all day every day because if not another sister will...

@JAT

Could you please define what a "manscape"? Not sure what type of brothers you may deal with but a good number of us like to be presentable to sisters. It's not even an option otherwise if we're out to attract a real woman.

In my everyday activity, you would be AMAZED at the number of women that feel that way.  They feel the "hassle" is not necessary.  Let's look at this--for most women, everything grows faster in the winter than summer.  Not only is it growing faster, but thicker (WTH)!! So, it actually seems like more trouble than other times of the month.  Then, we don't go out as often and are usually bundled up from head to toe.  Add the single factor and you have someone who is just adding to their already hectic schedule.  I personally feel incomplete without my "rituals" so, I relate, but is it a personal thing or being "considerate" of others....
As far as manscape...I think some men took the phrase of "snappy nappy dugout" from Juice tooo literally!

I can see where that could be a problem for us brothers if some sisters view it as a hassle to maintain their upkeep because of the season. Like you said it should be more of a "ritual" or a habit than as a inconvenience. LOL @ snappy nappy dugout..can't even comment on that.

@ Rick:

Yeah, brothers claim that they are on point with their upkeep, but if you have taco meat, then you need to wax or become intimately acquainted with your clippers.  And little bunny foo foo does NOT want to go hopping through the forest, if you get my drift.  And toenails and fingernails need to be cut low, filed evenly, and clean.  Lotion is your friend.  THe only afro you possess should be above your neck.

I could go on, because a lot of dudes are just slacking, but you get the picture.  And yes, some of these aged adolescents should know better, but numerical age does not wisdom impart.
